How Kuotz (quotes) Works

Using Kuotz as a buyer

Kuotz is a procurement platform which allows potential customers to easily and safely identify and compare providers of competing goods and services.

How do I get started?

Kuotz utilizes an easily understood, user-friendly, online interface that takes the legwork out of comparison shopping; significantly cutting down on the time you spend identifying the best company to suit your needs. To get started, sign-up as a Buyer. In a few simple steps you will be on your way to creating a project and having vendors compete for your business.

Why should I post my project on Kuotz?

In a word, competition.

A project may be a request for proposal (RFP), requests for quote (RFQ), job for bid, needed product, item, material, or resource. Kuotz facilitates competition among the providers of the products and services you seek, and ensures that you receive the best offer possible on the goods or services they provide.

How do I search Vendor profiles?

Once logged in, click Search Businesses from the top menu bar. Enter the type of business you are looking for as if you were searching through a phone book. You may search through the profiles of companies that provide the products or services you seek.

How do I request a quote?

There are two ways to get a quote:

  1. Click Search Businesses from the menu. Once you perform a search and find a company you are interested in hearing from, simply click Get A Quote from their profile. Creating a project from a Vendor profile will solicit the Vendor and ask them if they are interested in competing against other Vendors for your business. Fill in the project creation form with a project title, detailed project description, and financing requirements, then save your project. You can upload any associated files that may assist potential Vendors in better understanding your need. When you’re ready, select Find Vendors and let Kuotz go to work for you.

  2. Selecting Get A Quote from the menu will take you directly to the project creation page and you can select the appropriate category using the selection interface.

How many companies will compete for my business?

The number of providers that will compete for your business is a product of the number of vendors that show an interest in assisting you, and the number of vendors you ultimately select to compete. You are in control of the whole process, including which companies are able to compete for your job.

What is a project?

A project may be a request for proposal (RFP), a request for quote (RFQ), a job for bid, a needed product, item, material, or resource. It can be for a large multiphase project with detailed descriptions and procedures attached, or for smaller items that should still be put out for bid.

How do I create a project for bid?

There are two ways to create a project:

  1. Click Search Businesses from the menu. Once you perform a search and find a company you are interested in hearing from, simply click Get A Quote from their profile. Creating a project from a Vendor profile will solicit the Vendor and ask them if they are interested in competing against other Vendors for your business. Fill in the project creation form with a project title, a detailed project description, then save your project. You can upload any associated files that may assist potential Vendors in better understanding your need. When you’re ready, select Find Vendors and let Kuotz go to work for you.

  2. Selecting Get A Quote from the menu will take you directly to the project creation page and you can select the appropriate category using the selection interface.

Can we search for a category or vendor type using commodity codes?

Kuotz’ database is constructed around the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) and is easily cross-referenced with commodity codes. Simply ask the provider of the code you use to provide a NAICS cross-reference. This will allow you to search for the category specifically associated with the product you are seeking. When creating a project, enter the NAICS code directly into the Find a Category search field and the proper category will appear.

May we use Kuotz to solicit our current Vendor database?

Absolutely. Simply, send us a request to add your Vendors to our database. Not only will your current Vendors benefit from a better way of finding out about your jobs for bid, they will also be notified of other available jobs that are specific to their business.
